This is
Trish. She is in town for her art opening at
Rare Device. Annie and I met up with her on Thursday night. It was good to see her again - she had visited once before with our mutual friend
Amy, and we had a good time.
While talking at the show, Trish said she really wanted to go to San Francisco's Chinatown to see if she could buy a porcelain pig similar to one her friend brought home years ago. She asked if I would take her there, to Chinatown, and I said sure.
I picked her up around noon in the Mission, then we headed to The Ramp for lunch. Then we headed down to Stockton and Broadway. Here is what we saw:
Not my cup of tea, but hey, you can't argue that its, um, fresh.
The green stripe was really, really green on these fish.
I think these are quales. You can buy them, or their eggs. I have no idea how much one costs.
One of seven hundred stores just like it on Stockton street.
Waverly Place grafitti. Kinda cool.
I told Trish that I thought this suited her. Right.
I'll take a bottle of "E", please.
Say hello to my little friend.
I have been looking for a Snidley Whiplash doll all my life. And Sugar Bear - DUDE!
I do enjoy a walk through this place every now and then. It feels like a foreign country - the smells, the sounds, the stuff. All unfamilair and interesting in its own way. And I like hanging lanterns.
And Trish got her pig. Here he is. I think she named it "Chicken," as when we were through with our Chinatown adventure we came back to Chez Galvin/Rewitzer for some roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and wine.
Diana joined us, too. I fell asleep with a smile, as I read the New Yorker while Annie, Trish, and Diana talked and laughed into the night.
