We just finished painting our house. I can't believe how nice it looks. Our place was built in 1907 - back when our neighborhood looked like this:
This Thanksgiving I am so grateful that we still call this our home. We almost moved this across the bay this year, and I am SO GLAD we didn't. The beach, the park, the sound of the waves at night, the light - I really don't know how we ever could consider a move.
We painted the front a deep, mink brown, with the moulding in antique white and vermillion red. The painters did such a great job - they really wanted me to be happy with the job so they followed my every instruction to bring out the details - and I could not be more pleased with the result.
We painted the back this lovely green. This morning I hung up our iconic 49 Mile Drive sign that blew off a post in a winter storm a decade ago.
The sun is shining this Thanksgiving. We are serving dinner for 14 today. I wish all you fine people out there a happy day, too.
