Annie and I were walking back to the car in the Mission last night and I caught this place out of the corner of my eye - "Ape Do Good Printing." I love it. I plan on going back there and meeting these people. We'll see how good these monkeys really are.
I had some good sessions in life drawing last week. Karen returned as our model on Monday, and she was amazing to draw. I started to draw on bigger paper - 18x24 - and this really helped me with using the entire picture plane.
I also started to play around with some color:
Then on Wednesday, the model was a no-show, so we drew each other. I posed for a 20 minute piece, and it gave me a whole new perspective on how models earn their money. You try staying still for 20 minutes. I found my vision going blurry, my back full of aches, and all my extemities falling asleep. So we took turns on the stage. When it came to Bill's turn, he kept true to form, choosing an unlikely and somewhat disturbing posture of lying prone on the floor with eyes and mouth open. I drew him in the style I knew he would apprecitate most:
He loved it. We are going to swap drawings of each other when class ends in May.
One last thing from last week - I got a piece accepted into a juried show, and the opening reception was Wednesday. It is an etching I did from Printmaking class, the one of the Central Freeway. It made me feel great to see it hanging up on a wall other than my own:
Ape Do Good Printing.

I have really enjoyed viewing your blog, thank you :) Bills’ drawing has really inspired me, but there’s a question I need to ask: did you use Stabilo point 88 pens to draw it?
